Horai was founded in 1949, a time when there was little interest in recycling and environmental issues.
It all began with a large amount of scrap material piled up in a corner of a plastics factory for which there was no use.
Our company was born out of the idea that throwing this scrap material away was a case of needless waste.
Since our company’s founding, we have continued to refine our technologies and lead the industry in the design and manufacturing technology of shredders and pulverizers—essential machines for recycling plastics, aluminum cans, electric wires, and so on.
Shredders and pulverizers are machines that crush plastics, aluminum cans, electric wires, and other materials into pieces so that the materials can be reused.
A recycling plant suited to specific applications is necessary to recycle resources. Shredders and pulverizers are a critical part of such a plant. We work on development, design, and manufacturing on an individual basis in order to meet the needs of our customers.
Horai maintains a particularly high market share in the recycling of plastic products in Japan. Things that were once made of steel or wood have been replaced over the years by plastics because of their lighter weight and the ease of processing they afford.
As a result, a recycling plant that enables the reuse of scrap material and reduces costs is a critical component at any given plastic product manufacturing plant. Demand for our products has therefore increased, and we have continued to grow alongside this changing world. In many ways, it is rather the world that has caught up with our philosophy and ambitions.
Working based on our philosophy of eliminating needless waste, Horai will continue to contribute to environmental conservation. We will also continue to do our utmost to achieve world-class manufacturing in Japan, a nation that has limited resources itself.
